gardens.jpgThere are some wonderful private gardens for you to visit with kids within the Sussex countryside that welcome families.  The meticulous care taken of the flowers, plants, shrubs and trees presents some beautiful surroundings and scenery.  Some of them provide children's activities and play areas.

 

Borde Hill Garden

HAYWARDS HEATH

200 acres of garden, parkland and woodland with lakes and an adventure playground, with a long zip wire.  Lots of family fun events throughout the year.   Take a picnic or enjoy a visit to the café.   Ball games and dogs on leads allowed.

Nymans Gardens

HAYWARDS HEATH

There are some 30 acres of fantastic horticultural designs and many individual gardens at Nymans.  Take in the views of the Downs and explore the mature woodland adjacent to the gardens.  Nymans is known for its unusual plants as well as a spectacular display of rhododendrons, azaleas and camellias in May.  Look out for family activities.

Sheffield Park Garden

SHEFFIELD PARK

Open all year, this landscaped garden has different displays of plants, shrubs and trees depending on the season.  There is an easy walk around the lakes and a further 265 acres of historic parkland to be explored.  Activities for children are available.

Wakehurst Place

HAYWARDS HEATH

‘The National Trust's most visited property'.   This country estate and botanical garden is also home to natural woodland, lakes, garden and wetland.  Open daily.  Children's trails and events to look out for.  There is a shop and a café serving home made sandwiches and cakes.
