Sports facilities, cinemas & theatres. Sporting activities are fun, exciting and healthy. As well as the varied sports facilities and lessons offered in Brighton's leisure centres, there are also opportunities for kids to try out watersports, such as kayaking, windsurfing and sailing in Brighton and Hove. Or perhaps you are looking for some entertainment such as a theatre show or a film. There are several theatres in Brighton, some of which offer child friendly events as well as shows. Duke of Yorks Cinema
BRIGHTON
Established in 1910, the Duke of Yorks has been operating as an arts cinema since 1981. It has a Kids club on saturdays, starting at 10.30am, and also hosts children's parties. The Big Scream on Wednesdays at 11am is a screening for parents with babies under one year.

King Alfred Leisure Centre
HOVE
The King Alfred is situated in Kingsway, Hove. It can be reached by car or bus (nos 1, 6, 20, 49 all stop nearby; Stagecoach 700, 702). There is a car park next to the leisure centre as well as on-street parking, for which a ticket must be purchased.
There are two swimming pools, one of which is reserved for teaching and children's parties. There is a very family friendly beach-style approach at one end of the pool which also has a slide.
There are two sports halls in which you can do 5-a-side football, badminton, table tennis, volleyball and basketball. There is an outdoor court suitable for tennis.
Football courses are offered for children aged 5 – 11 years, and trampolining for those aged 5-12 years. There are mini mayhem soft play sessions for the under 5s on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1.30-2.30pm.

Lewes Leisure Centre
LEWES
Lewes Leisure Centre has two swimming pools, one of which is a small family pool and is warmer than the other. The centre offers special family fun sessions with large floats, on Saturdays and Sundays between 3 and 5pm. The pool offers free swimming sessions for children during the school holidays (East Sussex County Council holidays), on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 12 noon.
The leisure centre also has a soft play area and provides the following activities for children: football, gymnastics, badminton, short tennis, street dance, trampolining and supervised climbing.
Thursdays from 10-11.30 drop-in parent and toddler group.

This is a leisure centre offering many activities. Softplay for the under 8s, different activity sessions for the under 5s, plus a session for Dads and the under 7s. Holiday programme for kids aged 5 – 12. The swimming pool complex offers indoor pools, outdoor pool, flumes, watersprays, waterfalls and rapids.

The Brighton Watersports
BRIGHTON
A full range of watersports are offered from wake boarding to water skiing. Take a charter boat or hire a kayak. Some of the watersports are only suitable for older children and it is preferable that they can swim.
